Day after day, week after week, year after year, a life lived in poverty corrodes the people who have to endure it.

It erases hope, self-respect and even fleeting moments of peace of mind.

Poverty is a chronic disease, one as long-term and horrible as many diseases that we have managed to eradicate over the years.

People are not poor because they are lazy or stupid.

I personally believe we can eradicate poverty and in this talk, I share my thoughts and ideas on how we can do it.

Thanks to an amazing team who made this talk possible:

This talk is a culmination of hours and hours of inputs from the amazing TEDxJohannesburg team, friends and colleagues, who through their guidance and advice shaped this talk and for that I’m forever grateful to them.

If you enjoy and learn from this talk, which I hope you do, just know that it is more due to inputs of an amazing team of people I worked with.

If you feel the talk can do better, I personally take full responsibility for it and I will work on improving the idea.

TEDxJohannesburg : To Solve Poverty, We need a new type of Innovation

“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much, it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”

TEDxMahikeng: Sawubona, We See You

“Great brands of the future will be built by those who have worked hard to gain the insight that enables them to whisper: “We see you, we hear you, we are here for you” to their customers. Shouting: “notice us, we are the best, buy from us” just does not cut it anymore.”
