The Silicon Valley model which looks for $1 billion “unicorns” that need large amounts of capital and create relatively few jobs does not work for Africa.

Africa needs entrepreneurs who can create businesses that create jobs for the rising youth population without the need for large investment capital.

We need more social entrepreneurs who will create businesses that solve Africa’s urgent challenges of water, energy, food security, unemployment, education etc.

Imagine what it would mean if communities that lack access to safe drinking water had a simple, affordable way to test their water supply for cholera, a water-borne disease that sickens 4 million people every year and causes an estimated 143,000 deaths? Or we should a way of providing access to affordable health care, electricity, food etc.

Whether it is by saving lives, protecting the environment or providing micro-lending to women in rural and marginalized areas, social entrepreneurs are more important today than ever before, especially in the time of COVID-19.

This programmes focuses on understanding challenges faced by the continent, how to develop a sustainable and impactful business model for your social enterprise and how to scale it to reach more people that really needs it.
